Hello AiNews Readers!

I want to start by saying thank you for your patience — there was no newsletter yesterday because I attended Cisco’s WebexOne conference, where I had the opportunity to interview Cisco’s CMO Aruna Ravichandran and CTO Cullen Jennings. Both conversations were fantastic, and Cisco rolled out a wave of major AI announcements. I’ll be breaking down the highlights for you in tomorrow’s issue, so stay tuned!

Today I was only able to complete one article as I caught up on work from being out at the conference, but I’m excited to share it with you below. Tomorrow’s newsletter will be more comprehensive. That’s the advantage of having a real person (me!) curating AiNews — you’re getting thoughtful reporting, not just automated AI output.

👉 And don’t miss the poll results from last week’s survey — you’ll find them after today’s news and interview. Thank you again for voting and helping shape AiNews.com!

  • The Trump administration is going after semiconductor imports - In its latest bid to boost semiconductor production in the U.S., the Trump administration is weighing a policy that would mandate U.S. semiconductor companies to manufacture the same number of chips in the U.S. as their customers import from overseas manufacturers. Create talking head videos using your voice

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create professional talking avatar presentations by generating a headshot with Google Gemini and animating it with your voice using Wan Video — no filming required.

Step-by-step:

  • Go to Gemini and upload a photo with the prompt: "Give me a professional headshot of this person as a talking head, facing the camera, wearing [outfit], with [background]. Close-up shot, professional lighting, high resolution"

  • Visit create.wan.video, create a new project, and change media type from Video → Avatar

  • Upload your Gemini headshot and add audio by recording 10-15 seconds of your script or typing up to 300 words to use Wan's built-in voices

  • Hit Generate to sync lip movements with your audio, then click "Send to Timeline" and add segments using the "+" button to build your complete video

Pro tip: Write your script before you start and split it into short sections with natural pauses. This makes each clip flow smoothly, making it sound like a real presenter.
