True, many feel the proceedings against pornographers like Seymore Butts, Max Hardcore, Rob Black and now Jeff Steward with charges of breaking the law are a travesty of justice, but compare them with Fred Salaff's plight in Panama for perspective. -Ed.

Stefano Simone and I have a preliminary trial scheduled for October 24th in LA Chorrera. This trial is mandated by law and we are hopeful the the judge hearing the lack of evidence will throw the case out, nearly 2 years after our arrest.

Technically, all those arrested are still in the case although freed earlier. They will be represented by Carlos Carillio, their lawyer. My lawyer, Eugenio Morice has done incredibly good work and is confident in a good result in October.

The biggest problem we face is that our whole arrest and detention was politically motivated. We were caught up in a furor of "protect the children" legislation and intent. It's true that a fair amount of foreign men come to Latin America (and many other parts of the world) to exploit children and that's the main reason for our arrest. In our case I was operating totally in a transparent and legal manner and neither employed nor exploited or corrupted any children.
