• OpenAI’s ChatGPT Now Gets a Humanoid Body - Figure, an AI robotics company that claims to build the world’s first commercially viable autonomous humanoid robot, has made a huge stride by integrating a voice feature to its humanoid, Figure 01; the voice is powered by none other than OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

• Google Deepmind just released SIMA - SIMA, an AI agent that can follow natural language instructions to perform tasks across diverse video game environments. SIMA was trained on 9 different video games to learn general skills and commands, and doesn't require access to game code or APIs, only images and text instructions as input — mimicking how humans play.

• OpenAI’s Sora text-to-video generator will be publicly available later this year - In addition to making the tool available to the public, Murati says OpenAI has plans to “eventually” incorporate audio, which has the potential to make the scenes even more realistic.

• Larry Ellison and Elon Musk teaming up to bring AI to farming - SpaceX and Oracle are developing an AI-powered mapping application for farms. The tool will help farms plan, predict, and increase their agricultural output, and whether fields had enough water and nitrogen.

• Launching the first GenAI-native document parsing platform - LlamaIndex announced the world’s first GenAI-native document parsing platform, LlamaParse; they also released a game-changing new feature, GenAI-powered parsing instructions.

• OpenAI has new global partners, Le Monde and Prisa Media - We have partnered with international news organizations Le Monde and Prisa Media to bring French and Spanish news content to ChatGPT.

• Why AMD Doesn't Have To Beat Nvidia To Be A Winner In AI Chips - AMD has drawn strength from an important fact: Manufacturers dislike being locked into one vendor. Having more than one choice is always preferred. AMD's Instinct MI300 series accelerators provide a viable alternative to Nvidia's current H100 GPU, analysts say.

• China introduces the world's first 'AI child' - Chinese scientists recently announced the creation of the world’s first “artificial intelligence child.” Tong Tong, or “Little Girl” in English, is a virtual AI entity with abilities akin to those of a 3- or 4-year-old child. Tong Tong can learn on her own, assign tasks to herself, interpret human intentions and, unlike typical large language models (LLMs), display emotions such as joy, anger and grief.

• Women in AI: Sarah Kreps, professor of government at Cornell - Sarah Kreps is a political scientist, U.S. Air Force veteran and analyst who focuses on U.S. foreign and defense policy. She’s a professor of government at Cornell University, adjunct professor of law at Cornell Law School and an adjunct scholar at West Point’s Modern War Institute. Kreps’ recent research explores both the potential and risks of AI tech such as OpenAI’s GPT-4, specifically in the political sphere. In an opinion column for The Guardian last year, she wrote that, as more money pours into AI, the AI arms race not just across companies but countries will intensify — while the AI policy challenge will become harder.

• Oracle Takes on Microsoft with New AI Features - What sets Oracle's AI system apart is its tailored approach to specific tasks, with approximately 50 identified features optimized for various functions.
