Wicked Introduces New Packaging, AICO Wins Piracy Case
Source: Wicked Pictures
by: Company Press Release

(LOS ANGELES, CA / SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA) -- As many mainstream and adult news sources have already reported, the Australian adult industry has won its first major battle in the war against adult film piracy. As a key player in this case, Wicked Pictures has also announced that it will expand its efforts to combat piracy by introducing specially colored logo specific packaging for the company's DVDs.

Along with many of adult entertainment's top producers, Wicked is a member of the Adult Industry Copyright Organization [AICO], a non-profit, membership-based alliance designed to prevent and discourage breaches of copyright in adult films in Australia. In the case of Wicked Pictures Vs. Kaosshop, the three defendants involved accepted liability at hearings in the Federal Magistrates Court, Sydney, and consented to a declaration that they had breached copyright of certain Wicked Pictures' films. Kaosshop represents just one of the many bootleggers the company plans to go after.

To further help combat the unauthorized manufacture, sale, distribution and advertising of Wicked product, the company has introduced a new, medium gray custom DVD case that features an interior imprinted with the Wicked logo. Distributors and customers can expect to see the new, imprinted gray cases replace the traditional black DVD cases that Wicked product has appeared in over the next several months. The custom case is another one of the ways that Wicked is trying to both deter piracy and make the distributor and retailer know they have an authorized DVD.

DVD piracy is a consequence of new technology, but its prevention can be hastened through industry, customer, and legislative teamwork. And ultimately, the consumer's desire to purchase good quality, authentic product, and not settle for the badly copied covers, faulty motion menus, and poor image quality endemic to so many bootlegs, will help Wicked - and the rest of the adult industry - create a marketplace where quality can reign supreme.

Formed with a firm commitment to producing quality adult productions, Wicked Pictures continues to break new ground while remaining focused on producing quality adult entertainment, strengthening its appeal to women and couples, and enjoying ongoing success.
