(ARLINGTON, VA) -- Exhibit space at the 2001 International CES-Your Source for Workstyle and Lifestyle Technology is more than 90 percent sold out.

To be held January 6-9, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nev., the 2001 International CES will showcase the latest innovations from more than 1,500 international exhibitors in digital audio and video, wireless communications, information technology, home networking, broadband, mobile electronics, content media, delivery systems and the Internet.

More than 110,000 industry professionals from 125 countries are expected to attend the 2001 show. Although retail buyers still flock to CES with 89 percent of the retail buying power of the industry at the show each year, CES also draws more than 20,000 non-retail corporate buyers, financial/market analysts, content providers and creators, broadband developers and government officials. Online attendee registration opens July 1, 2000 at www.CESweb.org.

"We've sold more than 1 million net square feet of exhibit space so far," said Karen Chupka, vice president of events and conferences for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer, sponsor and manager of CES. "We've experienced an outpouring of companies clamoring to get onto the show floor and demonstrate their technology to the huge international audience CES brings to Las Vegas each January."

Some of the exhibitors taking significant space at the 2001 show include: 3Com, Alpine, American Online, Audiovox, Canon, Casio, Clarion, Cisco, Cobra, Coby, Dataplay.com, Delphi, DIRECTV, Harman, Hatzlachh, Intel, JVC, Kenwood, Microsoft, Mitek, Motorola, Palm Computing, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Recoton, Samsung, Sanyo Fisher, Sharp, Sony, Sun Microsystems, TiVo, Toshiba, Unisonic, Yamaha and Zenith.

CES is creating special conference sessions and exhibit areas for attendees so that they understand the newest advances in workstyle and lifestyle technology. The 2001 International CES will focus on at least 25 product areas with more than a dozen exhibit pavilions spread throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton, the Riviera Hotel and the Alexis Park Hotel. A list of locations for specific product categories and pavilions is available on CES' Web site, www.CESweb.org, under the "I Want to Exhibit" exhibitor area.

To help attendees discover the latest trends, strategies and profit opportunities in the consumer technology industry, the 2001 CES conference program will offer with more than 100 targeted sessions. Conference tracks and keynotes will be announced later this summer.

For more news on CES before, during and after the show, visit www.CESweb.org, the interactive source for CES information.

CEA, a sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), represents more than 600 U.S. companies involved in the development, manufacturing and distribution of audio, video, mobile electronics, communications, information technology, multimedia and accessory products, as well as related services, that are sold through consumer channels. Combined, these companies account for more than $60 billion in annual sales.

CEA also sponsors and manages the International CES - Your Source for Workstyle and Lifestyle Technology. All profits from CES are reinvested into industry services, including technical training and education, industry promotion, engineering standards development, market research and legislative advocacy.
