Australia/Brazil Deal Brings Live Adult Video to 200 million
Source: ANYwebcam.com
by: Company Press Release

ANYwebcam.com, the Internet's most-visited destination for live video-chat, has announced an agreement with Brazil-based Popular Internet Ltda, to launch and manage a Portuguese-language version of its website technology.

Planned for launch prior to the end of 2003, the new version of ANYwebcam.com will link the diverse Portuguese-speaking people and communities of the world like never before, with the ability to meet, watch, show, chat and interact live, using low-cost webcams and standard Internet connections.

"Portuguese is the fifth most spoken language in the world, with 200 million people - nearly double those who speak German, French or Japanese," said Gordon Williams, Director of ANYwebcam.com. "It was a natural choice as our first expansion into providing live webcam video, voice and text chat beyond the English-speaking people of the world."

The agreement will see the rapid development of a totally Portuguese-language version of ANYwebcam.com, including webcam broadcaster, high-speed webcam viewer, voice and text chat systems. The website and live video-chat will be available to Portuguese-speaking people with personal computers and standard modem connections, handheld PCs or mobile phones. High speed Internet hosting of the website will be supplied by ANYwebcam.com's existing New York USA facility. Translation, marketing, business development, customer support and ongoing management of the new website will be conducted by Popular Internet Ltda, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Many Internet industry experts note the saturation of adult Web sites in English-speaking countries and point to Asia and Latin America as major emerging markets. According to U.S-based Jupiter research, Brazil is the fastest growing user of the Internet in Latin America with more than 29 million users forecast for 2005. Portugal itself had an additional 5.74 million Internet users in the first quarter of 2003, up 51% over the same period the previous year, according to the official Portuguese Communications Institute.

"As part of its international language strategy, ANYwebcam.com wisely understood that simply translating the website would not guarantee its success in local markets." said David Garcia, Director of Popular Internet Ltda. "ANYwebcam.com had strict requirements to ensure it chose a local organisation that could cater to the unique cultural, support and marketing needs of Portuguese-speaking people and we are proud to have been selected for this tremendous opportunity."

ANYwebcam.com also announced that the Portuguese-language initiative was just one in a series of plans to provide its Internet video, communications and online community technology to "anyone, anywhere, any time."
