(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- As most of you know, Babydol was convicted Friday on three counts of pimping. The 4 counts of pandering resulted in a mistrial and were thrown out for now.
Some say that Judge Lloyd M. Nash's order for her to go right to jail and the increasing of her bail to a half million dollars was inappropriate and may have been forced upon him by higher authorities. Attorney Gerald Scotti is one of these who feels the measures against Babydol were Draconian at least and unusual and inappropriate. Not even Heidi Fleiss had to go right to jail. She was out for almost a year before she went in to serve only three years. Babydol is facing 8 to 9 years at her sentencing according to The D.A.'s office statement.Sentencing is on April; 28th. Mr. Scotti will of course will have already begun motions to reduce the bail so she can get out to help with her defense.
Most jurors stated publicly that it was a tough decision for them and that they were disappointed that they were not allowed to vote for lesser charges. The Prosecution has always gone for the maximum penalties.
Babydol never had a chance to read her statement to the media which she thought was going to be right after the jury voted.

I want to thank my many fans and supporters who showed up every day to cheer me on. And to my music fans, I have not abandoned the music. It has been very hard for me to put my music career on hold. And finally, I want to thank those members of the media who have been fair and professional with me during this past year of turmoil in my life"

What a shock it must have been to her when the Judge allowed the DA's demand that she be incarcerated because of an inappropriate bail because of a potential flight risk. Judge stated that she has no ties to the community. Actually she does. A sister who is a well known actress/producer for 20 years, and recording contracts and receipts in many recording studios, musicians, agents, publicists and business managers who have all had her under contract. Coupled with the fact that she attended every single hearing day in court and has coperated fully with the DA and Court for almost a year.
In the meantime, She and her family and friends are trying to raise $50,000 cash and $450,000 in collateral for her to get out of her cell.
Although she is being isolated in the celebrity section with her own cell, she reports that it is a living hell. She has already become sick on the water and has nothing to read, no radio or TV. She can make phone calls at certain hours of the day when phones are available ..collect calls only.
