Grand Opening! Garners a Multitude of Mainstream Media Attention

(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- Though the store has only been open for just over two months, Grand Opening!'s Los Angeles branch has been attracting a healthy amount of mainstream media attention. In addition to the press that attended the launch party in early May, proprietrix Kim Airs and staff have welcomed crews from dating shows the 5th Wheel and Blind Date, E! Networks and Tech TV!
"I'd say the uniqueness of the store is a draw on a personal level to customers, but it's also a big draw to media because it's such a comfortable atmosphere," says Airs. "That's something I've been hearing from everyone."
Both the 5th Wheel and Blind Date shot segments of their shows in the store during May. The crew for Blind Date was so taken with the location and Airs' helpful assistance that they shot a second segment for another date in early June.
"It was really fun with Blind Date because I work really well with improv and on-the-spot interviews," Airs recalls. "It's pretty much shot on-the-fly, so I got a chance to interact with people without even knowing them. I counseled the couple on sex tips, like oral sex skills."
Airs also appeared on the Tech TV show Wired for Sex in May, where she discussed the latest innovations in sex toys. In addition to that, E! Networks used the store as a location for interviews pertaining to their upcoming True Hollywood Story on porn superstar Jenna Jameson.
"The best thing about shooting there was the setting was fresh and provocative - it's not your usual cliche' of flowers and a fireplace," says a producer for E! Networks. "Kim's irreverence helped make work more like play."
The Boston store is no stranger to media attention, either. Having been featured on CNBC, NBC, in the pages of O, Glamour Magazine, Ms., GQ and many others, Airs' latest accomplishment comes in the form of a multi-page feature on herself and the store in the latest edition of Boston Magazine, which is on stands now.
The 5th Wheel will be featuring their Grand Opening! footage later this year, Blind Date in September, and E! Networks in November.
