Tis' the Season To be Giving

(LAS VEGAS, NV) -- The BunnyRanch has had its fair share of good fortune in recent weeks. We've been featured on HBO and feted by such notable media types as the O'Reilly Factor, the Today Show and Geraldo-we were even spoofed on Saturday Night Live. The bonanza resulting in this exposure has brought us both clients and talent-simply put, things couldn't be better.
But then a funny thing happened on the way to the Forum. We heard of a young fella, who lives among us in Carson City (three year old, Daniel Morrison), who is suffering from a malignant, inoperable brain tumor. His folks can hardly keep up with the medical bills and daily living expenses and so a group of folks decided to try and do something about it.
A fundraiser was held on Wednesday, December 18th at Kathy's Some Place Else, a local Moundhouse saloon. The theme was Coyote Ugly and girls from the BunnyRanch and Miss Kitty's were there to literally have the clothes auctioned off their backs. Local businesses also contributed items for a raffle-all in all over $5,000 dollars was raised.
Led by Sunset Thomas, the current Publisher of Cheri Magazine and Ultra VCA Contract Girl, all the ladies present had a great time all for the right cause of Christmas. The local residences were was again impressed by the support that the Bunnyranch and Ms. Kitty's Cathouse has given for the right cause. Said one resident," the girls know how to make a sad event into a merry cause and we hope that Daniel will keep up his spirits, it's really rough on anyone but ultimately tougher on a four year old."
What struck me as most poignant was not the sum raised but the energy in which the ladies of both Ranches operated. Some are mothers themselves; others have little brothers or nephews. Our girls worked the room with more vigor than I've ever seen them work a client and to top it off, they kicked in close to $1,000 of their own cash!
As I left, late that evening, the snow was still fresh on the ground, the foothills blanketed in white and Christmas was but a week away. On the car radio, as I pulled out of the parking lot, Nat King Cole cooed, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and though it may, in fact, be young Daniels last. I couldn't help but smile and sing along, because sometimes humanity finds itself in bed with the oddest of partners and if you care to look close, you'll find beneath those C and D cups, a whole lot of heart.
