Vivid With Directrix to Offer VOD Streaming Films

(NORTHVALE, NJ) -- Directrix, Inc. (OTC BB: DRCX), is pleased to announce that Vivid Entertainment Group will employ The Directrix Content Delivery Network to stream its premium adult video-on-demand content. The Directrix Content Delivery Network leverages Akamai Technologies Inc.'s globally distributed network of 10,000 servers designed to deliver all forms of Web content from servers optimally located for an end user's request.
Vivid will be utilizing The Directrix Content Delivery Network to offer their entire catalog, allowing users to watch every video Vivid has ever made, in a video-on-demand (VOD) format over the Internet. Approximately one in four regular Internet users - or 21 million Americans - visit one of the more than 60,000 adult sites on the Web at least once a month. Analysts from Forrester Research say that these sites generate at least $1 billion a year in revenue. This market is ready to expand, with worldwide cable modem subscriptions projected to leap from 2.2 million at the end of 1999 to almost 12.7 million in 2003, according to a report by Cahners In-Stat Group. During the same period, worldwide revenues from cable modem services will jump from 1 billion dollars to over 5 billion dollars, the report says. The Gartner Group expects the DSL-broadband business to experience growth in excess of 100 percent per year through 2005 and the number of DSL subscribers will double in 2001 to 3 million and reach 13 million by 2005.
