It’s almost here. You might think I’m talking about summer, but it’s actually www.cybernetexpo.com, the place for adult online folks (and those who are thinking about joining the ranks, or just want to hang out with the shakers and movers who provide much of the adult porn on the Internet).

I see some hopeful signs that the economy is possibly starting to recover a bit. The shopping malls seem considerably more crowded than just a few months ago, and many folks are carrying multiple bags of purchases. Window shopping seems less, parking lots are loaded, and even the indoor skating rink and food courts are getting crowded. Combined with nicer weather, the coeds are shopping up a storm while providing sexy eye candy as they move about the malls, some with credit cards possibly provided by Mom and Dad.
I belong to a running club that plays early evening beach volleyball every Thursday, followed by sampling of beers and food at beach hot spots favored by locals and the college crowd. Those places are showing signs of getting somewhat back to the pre-recession level of business; the post 9pm crowd of females is forming longer and longer lines at the front doors to clubs. Some of these young ladies seem bra-less, flirty, and ready for fun times.
I have a dilemma of sorts. I always personally answer each and every fan letter and email, and send out autographs and photographs to those requesting them. I can answer an average of 16 letters an hour, and close to 30 emails since they don’t require time for me to address and stamp envelopes. It’s always easier when mail requests include an already addressed stamped envelope, and a statement that the requestor is of legal age (though I never send ''naughty'' stuff through the mails, I’m hesitant to send even a head shot until I am assured that it’s not a request from some 17-year old, or younger).
These past few months have seen an unbelievable jump in overseas requests, especially from Russia where I sense that autograph clubs have web sites that lets others know which folks actually honor requests for autographed photos; because of the supplies, especially the overseas postage, I’m now supporting the local U.S. Post Office every month with hundreds of dollars of stamp purchases. Now, here’s my dilemma; although the incoming requests say that they are fans of my ''work'', etc, etc, the wording seems close to a form letter instead of from individual autograph seekers.
So, I am considering doing away with my heretofore conscientious efforts to send photos overseas, and instead perhaps just email attachment head shots with my signature. I feel cheap doing it, but my time and expenses are being overwhelmed with Russian requests. Maybe my age is showing here, but personal time management is very important to me and my administrative productivity. Managing the many thousands of Internet domains that I’ve registered during the past five years has been the straw that broke this camel’s back. I guess I’m getting to be a cheap and time-selfish old man!
Speaking of getting old, I’m starting to get annoyed while listening to the news on my car radio and hearing all those ads where the 800-number gets repeated 3-4 times, usually quickly by a voice sounding like an ''old west'' snake-oil salesperson. Maybe, it’s yet another ''getting old and cranky'' thing for me! Admittedly, there are certain radio ads which motivate me to automatically change stations, or shut off the radio altogether. I wonder if it’s just me, or might other listeners also endure the same annoyances. Oh, well!
I’m teaching a ''How to Make Adult Films'' class at www.cybernetexpo.com next month in San Francisco. I’m hoping that a lot of the attendees will be cam girls looking to see how to make us guys on the Internet constantly drool over their bodies. Come to think of it, I’d better start planning for ''drooling'' if/when my age saddles me with that!
