It was a year of special anniversaries for EXOTIC DANCER Publications, producers of both the Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners EXPO and the Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show, and both events proved to historic celebrations of the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry’s only national convention and national awards show.

The 15th Annual EXPO was held at the Mandalay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas from August 27-29, 2007, while the 10th Annual Awards Show graced the stage at Vegas’ Orleans Showroom on August 29th.

“We are proud to have served the adult nightclub industry for as long as we have, and look forward to producing the industry’s national convention and awards show for many years to come,” says EXOTIC DANCER’s Publisher Don Waitt, noting that the company has also produced the industry’s only trade magazines for over 18 years. “We enjoyed celebrating our anniversaries with thousands of adult club executives, entertainers and other industry professionals from across the country. It was truly a memorable experience.”

For feature entertainer Taya Parker, the Spearmint Rhino gentlemen’s club in Las Vegas and the PT’s Showclubs/VCG Holding club chain—and for several others—the 10th Annual Awards Show proved to be a very memorable experience indeed. Taya was presented with the coveted EXOTIC DANCER’S “Entertainer of the Year” Award, signifying her position as the top feature entertainer in the adult nightclub industry. Vegas’ Spearmint Rhino was honored with the “Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year” Award, while the PT’s chain (which owns and operates several clubs across the country including some Penthouse Club locations) took home the “Club Chain of the Year” Award.

The 10th Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show was hosted by popular comedian Robert Schimmel, and included 17 awards that were presented to adult nightclubs, feature entertainers and other industry pros from across the country. Among the award winners was rock band Motley Crue, who was inducted into the EXOTIC DANCER Hall of Fame for their song “Girls, Girls, Girls,” the most popular song in the history of the adult nightclub industry. Crue vocalist Vince Neil was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the band. (A complete list of award winners is included in this press release.)

The Annual Awards Show was the crowning event of the 15th Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners EXPO, an event that includes three full days of panel sessions and workshops, a 250-booth tradeshow, and evening parties at some of Las Vegas’s most prominent gentlemen’s clubs including Scores Las Vegas and Sin Gentlemen’s Club, which will soon reopen as the brand new Penthouse Club.

City Attorney, City Councilman urge club execs to “Get political” at EXPO ‘07

“You must get involved in the political process” — that was the overriding theme which dominated the panel sessions and workshops at EXPO 2007. Several industry experts, including Florida City Attorney Michael Kahn, former Charlotte City Councilman Patrick Cannon, leading First Amendment attorneys and members of the Association of Club Executives (ACE), the national trade association for the adult club industry, urged club executives and industry pros to be proactive—rather than reactive—in their battles against the foes of adult entertainment. The most notable of those foes, they explained, is the Citizens for Community Values (CCV), a religious and political lobbying organization that has sponsored restrictive anti-adult legislation in cities and states across the country, legislation aimed at putting adult nightclubs out of business.

EXPO ’07 joined by 1st Annual STOREROTICA Convention

In addition to the EXPO’s packed agenda of events, EXPO attendees were also invited to all of the events of the 1st Annual STOREROTICA Convention, a brand new national convention & tradeshow for the multi-billion-dollar adult retail industry. STOREROTICA was produced by TEEZE and ASB (Adult Store Buyer) magazines, both of which are affiliates of EXOTIC DANCER Publications.

The sold-out STOREROTICA tradeshow was directly across the hall from the EXPO tradeshow, and featured exhibitors including intimate apparel companies, adult product vendors and adult film companies. STOREROTICA also featured its own full slate of panel sessions, workshops and seminars, along with nightly parties including the 1st Annual STOREROTICA Awards Show.
