The “best of the best” honored at the 2006 Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show, Presented and produced by EXOTIC DANCER Publications.
For the ninth straight year, ED Publications saluted the nation’s top clubs, feature entertainers, industry businesses and adult club executives with a full-blown Awards Show during the 14th Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo. The 9th Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show was held on Thursday, August 24, 2006, at the Wayne Newton Theater inside the Stardust Hotel & Casino.
Nearly 20 national awards were presented at the 2006 Awards Show, the only national awards show for the multi-billion-dollar adult nightclub industry. Aside from the awards presentations, the show also included command performances by the six nominees for the coveted ED’s Entertainer of the Year Award. These lucky nominees included Claudia Monet, Donna Doll, Nikki Benz, Taya Parker, Tanya Taylor and Zoe Britton (see a full list of Award Nominees and Winners at the bottom of this page).
While each award is viewed as a high honor for its recipient, three awards in particular stand out as the most prestigious: Entertainer of the Year, Club Chain of the Year and Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year. The winners of these awards can proudly state that the adult nightclub industry has recognized them as the best of the best on a truly national level. (Note: Award nominees are voted on by the members of the adult nightclub industry, including owners, operators, entertainers and other industry professionals; these are not “fan” awards.)
Of the six nominees for Entertainer of the Year Award, the beautiful and talented Tanya Taylor—a three-time Entertainer of the Year nominee—was presented the award for 2006’s Entertainer of the Year by 2005’s Entertainer of the Year, Jade Simone St. Clair. In the Club Chain of the Year Award category, Déjà Vu Showgirls was able to stand out above several other club chain nominees and was chosen as the year’s best. Déjà Vu owns and operates over 70 adult nightclubs across the country and in Europe, including the Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club locations.
And out of ten very deserving nominees for the Overall Gentlemen’s Club of the Year Award, Delilah’s in Philadelphia, PA, was bestowed with the coveted honor of being the number-one club in the United States.
Well-known comedian Bobby Slayton, the “Pit Bull of Comedy,” who has appeared in such films as Get Shorty, Ed Wood and Wayne’s World 2, hosted the 2006 Awards Show. Slayton opened the show with a 20-minute routine that lit up the capacity crowd, as he described his love for adult nightclubs—despite his wife’s objections—and assailed political correctness in every way imaginable.
